I’ve been creating charcuterie boards for as long as I can remember. You may know them as cheese boards, cheese platters, smorgasbords, or mini buffets.

Traditional charcuterie boards typically include cured or cold-cut meats, but modern boards are wonderfully flexible. They can showcase holiday treats, breakfast items, desserts, candies, hot chocolate accompaniments, dinner tapas, or s’mores—making them perfect for any occasion or theme.

Creative Charcuterie Tips
Charcuterie boards are enjoyable because you can be as elaborate or as simple as you like. Even a minimal board can look stunning with thoughtful arrangement and variety.
1. One of my favorite serving pieces is a marble platter. I once used a marble tile for a large rectangular spread—it worked beautifully for a hearty buffet.

2. Wooden boards and round cutting boards are classics for good reason: they bring warmth and a rustic feel to the presentation.
3. Small pedestal platters and individual condiment dishes are ideal for holding dips, olives, nuts, or any items you prefer separated from the main spread.
4. Use leafy greens like arugula as both garnish and natural dividers between sections—this adds color and keeps flavors distinct.

Charcuterie Board Aesthetic
Explore a variety of board styles to inspire your next build—elegant cheese-and-meat spreads, fruit-forward platters, dessert boards, breakfast arrangements, and seasonal themes. Mix textures, colors, and shapes to keep visual interest and appetites engaged.
