Ola Alghazzouli arrived in the United States at 11 years old, leaving Damascus, Syria, behind.
Adjusting to a new country brought language and cultural barriers that dented her confidence and led to disordered eating, including bulimia and binge eating.
When Ola discovered weight lifting, she was inspired by the physical changes and the empowerment that came from focusing on those positive shifts.
Overcoming the shame she initially felt as a Muslim woman building physical strength, she embraced her new abilities and now dedicates herself to helping others find the same confidence.

Strength with a Purpose
Ola emphasizes returning to basics: spending time outdoors, using art as therapy, and moving the body. She believes these practices help people reconnect with their purpose and develop a healthier relationship with their bodies.
In the conversation we explore why stepping back and allowing your body rest is important, how fitness can reveal or reinforce your sense of purpose, and how Ola blends Muslim faith with fitness in a way that feels authentic rather than preachy.
Perfection isn’t required. When you pursue goals from a place of enjoyment and purpose, you can gradually heal your body image and rebuild trust with yourself.
Ola invites listeners to consider the intersection of functional fitness, faith, and living in alignment with one’s calling.
